Hello, I’m Chris and I run the quantitative team at Essential.

I joined Essential in 2008 from GCap Media where I managed the research programme for a number of radio stations including Classic FM, Xfm, and Capital Radio. My role involved understanding the latest trends in technology, radio, and music. Before joining GCap I worked in a number of agencies managing brand, advertising, and NPD research across a wide variety of fmcg and service sector clients.
In the office, I’m often accused of being an Apple fanboy. However, I just think their products look nice, or as my friend Steve would say.
“In most people’s vocabularies, design means veneer. It’s interior decorating. It’s the fabric of the curtains of the sofa. But to me, nothing could be further from the meaning of design. Design is the fundamental soul of a human-made creation that ends up expressing itself in successive outer layers of the product or service.”
